Several taxpayers were caught off guard in recent days with an error message when checking the status of their IRS refund. The Ministry of Finance has acknowledged the problem and guarantees that the situation has been resolved.
According to reported complaints, when trying to check the refund status, some taxpayers encountered a system error indication, along with information that payment would be made by bank check instead of the usual transfer.
The Ministry of Finance did not reveal the exact number of affected processes, but clarifies that all cases were analyzed individually and that bank transfers are already being processed.
The ministry emphasizes that this technical failure had no impact on the submission of income statements, which continued normally.
Over 2.1 million returns submitted
The figures for the first 20 days of the deadline show strong adherence by taxpayers. Over 2.1 million income statements for 2025 have been submitted.
Regarding refunds, the State has already paid around 165 million euros to taxpayers. Conversely, 93 thousand cases were identified in which taxpayers had to return money to the Tax Authority, totaling 46 million euros.
Deadline ends on June 30
The deadline for submitting the IRS declaration ends on June 30, so those who have not yet done so should ensure timely submission to avoid fines.
