The Ministry of Finance assures that the computer malfunction responsible for delays in IRS refunds will be resolved during the current week. In clarifications provided to the media, Joaquim Miranda's office classifies the situation as a "point" constraint and states that no taxpayer will be harmed.
The problem was initially reported last week by Correio da Manhã, which reported complaints from users of the Portal das Finanças. After submitting their declaration online, some taxpayers encountered an error message on the page dedicated to calculating the refund, which generated uncertainty about the payment of amounts due.
According to the Ministry, all families affected by this failure will receive the refund by bank transfer, contrary to the initial indication that payment would be made by check. The change aims to simplify the process and avoid unnecessary trips to bank branches, ensuring faster return of amounts.
Despite the incident, tax filing is proceeding at an express pace. By 3:30 pm this Tuesday, more than 2.1 million taxpayers had already submitted their declaration, a value slightly higher than that recorded in the same period last year.
The deadline for filing IRS started on April 1 and runs until June 30, covering all income categories. Finance appeals for timely submission of declarations to avoid crowds near the final deadline.
