The deadline to go to the [Tax Authority Portal](https://irs.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/) to verify deduction values and file a complaint ends on **March 31**, the day before the start of IRS return submissions for 2025 income. ## How pre-filled deductions work The tax authority pre-fills IRS deductions - for health, education, property charges, general family expenses, and all others that give rise to tax incentives - based on information communicated by companies and other entities that issue invoices with the taxpayer's Tax Identification Number (NIF). Until Tuesday, it is possible to go to the AT website, to the personal IRS area, and consult all these expenses, seeing how much a person spent in each sector of activity and the corresponding deduction value. ## What you can dispute until March 31 Although the portal currently shows all expenses that the tax authority will consider when calculating IRS, the possibility of filing a complaint on the Tax Authority Portal only covers, until March 31, **general family expenses** and **VAT invoice requirement deductions**. ## Other expenses Regarding health expenses, education, property charges, nursing home charges, and Social Security contributions for domestic workers, taxpayers can correct the data when filing their return, between **April 1 and June 30**. To do so, they will need to fill in **Annex H** of the IRS return, as an alternative to the data provided by the AT. ## IRS and VAT consignment In addition to disputing certain expenses, until March 31, taxpayers can also indicate which entity they want to **consign a portion of their IRS** to, and optionally, the VAT they would receive from the invoice requirement. The period for submitting returns runs for three months, between **April 1 and June 30**.
